The board of the association includes nine professional organists: Umberto Pineschi, founder and president, Andrea Vannucchi, Anna Picchiarini and Kumiko Konishi (Pistoia), Antonio Galanti, Roberto Menichetti and Mitsuru Azuma (Pisa), Eliseo Sandretti and Gianpaolo Prina (Lucca).

The Gherardeschi Academy is housed in the Spirito Santo church house. The parish buildings of the Spirito Santo is a considerable organ centre with its three instruments: the Hermans 1664 and a Ghilardi 2007 of the church of St. Ignatius (known as “Spirito Santo”), located in twin organ case facing each other, both built in 1664, and a Tamburini 1973 in the Saletta Gherardeschi by the church.

The Gherardeschi Academy organizes a series of so called Organ Vespers per year, a way to make the local organs known and, especially, heard. The Academy also organized a Hermans Festival from 24 to 30 March 2008, consisting in master classes, seminars, visits to historic organs and concerts, an interpretation course on Correa de Arauxo, given by Guy Bovet from 25 to 28 June 2008, and the Willem Hermans International Organ Competition from 14 to 17 April 2009.
